Fluorite Powder: Multi-functional Industrial Raw Material

Fluorite powder, also known as fluorspar powder, is primarily composed of fluorite minerals that contain fluorine. The main component is calcium fluoride (CaF₂), which has stable chemical properties, high hardness, high-temperature resistance, and chemical corrosion resistance.

Basic properties of NORTH INDUSTRIES Fluorite Powder

  • Chemical composition: The main component of fluorite powder is calcium fluoride (CaF₂), which contains both fluorine and calcium.

  • Physical properties: Fluorspar powder has a glassy luster and comes in various colors, including green, purple, rose, white, yellow, and blue. Its melting point is 1318°C.

  • Processing procedure: Through beneficiation processing, fluorite ore can produce block concentrates, fragmented ores, and powder concentrates of different specifications. Fluorite powder is a powdered material formed from fluorite through crushing, flotation, dehydration, and drying.

Main uses of Fluorite Powder

  • Metallurgical flux: Fluorspar powder can lower the melting point of refractory substances, promote slag fluidity, and allow for better separation of slag and metal during smelting. It helps in desulfurization, dephosphorization and enhances the ductility and tensile strength of metals. Therefore, it is widely used in steelmaking, ferroalloy production, iron casting, and non-ferrous metal smelting.

  • Building materials raw material: In cement, glass, ceramics, and other building materials industries, fluorspar powder can be used as a raw material to improve product quality and performance.

  • Chemical raw material: Fluorite powder is an essential raw material for preparing fluorides and fluorine acids, widely used in the chemical industry. Especially high-quality acid-grade fluorite powder is used to produce hydrofluoric acid, which is a critical raw material for producing various organic and inorganic fluorides and fluorine elements.

  • Optical and electronic materials: Due to its unique physical and chemical properties, fluorite powder is important in optical and electronic fields, such as manufacturing high-refractive-index optical materials and high-performance electronic components.

  • Other applications: Fluorspar powder can also be used as a whitening agent for plastics, rubber, paper, dyes, and coatings, enhancing product whiteness and glossiness. Additionally, it can be used as a carrier for pesticides, improving their utilization and efficacy. Furthermore, fluorite powder can adjust soil pH, improve soil structure, enhance soil fertility, and increase crop yields.
